In Japan, there is a long holiday period from late April to early May called Golden Week. May 5th, one of the days during Golden Week, is known as Children's Day, especially dedicated to praying for the growth of boys. It is also known as Tango no Sekku.An essential part of Tango no Sekku is "koinobori," carp-shaped windsocks flown in the yards of households with boys. Originally, during the Edo period, it was customary to celebrate the birth of a boy by raising a flag with the family crest. 日本では4月下旬から5月上旬にかけてゴールデンウィークと呼ばれる長期休暇があります。5月5日は「こどもの日」と呼ばれ、男の子の成長を祈る日です。端午の節句に欠かせないのが、男の子のいる家庭の庭に揚げる「鯉のぼり」です。もともと江戸時代には、男の子の誕生を祝って家紋入りの旗を掲げる習慣がありました。

this evolved into the tradition of displaying carp-shaped flags among commoners. Koinobori typically
