Communicating with students of a similar age in another country is something that all teachers would want their students to do. What better way to practice new language skills, learn about another culture, and make new friends....When Australian students get the chance to interact with students in Asia, there is suddenly total motivation to communicate and make friends.
Language Discovery has developed a revolutionary new product, 'Palaygo' that enables students to learn second languages in an engaging and fun manner.
Palaygo is an interactive platform where students communicate with overseas students of similar age in their learning language through an innovative and patented Australian made web-based system.
Through Palaygo students learn the value of studying a second language by experiencing meaningful and purposeful use of language through actual communication with their overseas peers.
Communicating with PALs in a PLAYful manner using a unique PALette system and exchanging GO (meaning language in Japanese).
So let's GO!
Use the language, learn the culture.
Let students enjoy using the language an learn the culture from overseas students.
How Palaygo works
The Palaygo methodology allows students to find a direct, autonomous motivation to their learning and fosters a mutually supportive learning environment with powerful peer learning potential. It is effective in motivating a broad range of students to want to learn languages other than English. Children quickly aspire to communicate more with their overseas friends, and students' motivation for continued language learning arises from this aspiration.
The three Palaygo levels (Mail, Talk, Tour) are a progression of real experiences and increasing communication skills. The new and exciting discoveries students make through this real communication process stimulates their self-interest and motivation to learning other languages and cultures.
Three Levels of Immersion
Students establish contact with overseas peers at school where they nurture their interests in each other as well as their language and cultural knowledge.
Students can proceed to talking and seeing each other in real-time, enabling them to further their relationships and enhancing their oral communication skills
Students can opt to travel to their online friends’ countries and home stay and visit their schools.
